& I'm waiting

Barefoot Friends

I started out watching the show not expecting much, but simply out of boredom and partly because Eunhyuk is in it. The first few episodes on the trips overseas were fun, MT was funny with Lee Hyori, but what really pulled me into the show was the diving challenge.

Firstly, Eunhyuk is really an ace, but still practises so hard. What's best of him is that he does the best under competition, even when the pressure, burden and expectations of him were so high. But he never disappoints. I guess that's why he is able to come so far and earn a good life for his family now.
The part of the whole diving special that left the deepest impression on me was when they asked him to do a 10m for the first time, and he just goes "yes, I will do it" and walks to the staircase. Even if he is fearful, he pushes himself to do his best, and of course, he does well. At that point, all I felt was of course, he is Eunhyuk oppa. :)

Watched the last episode of the diving challenge with hopes to see Eunhyuk doing well, but the rest of the members all caught my attention. It was an international diving competition and I couldn't imagine how much stress Eunhyuk experienced when all the members go "oh, we have Eunhyuk".
But yeah, he did well. :) Even though he didn't attain the best score for platform and Hyunjoong seemed to have done better, he did consistently well for all three dives. :) and he was signed up for the 3m springboard as well, so he didn't have enough time to practise for all, but the 1.5 spins on the springboard was simply the best! :)

And he couldn't hold his tears in after that spinning dive that earned him a score of more than 30, highest out of all the events for the members. Nobody knows if it was because he was relieved, happy he did well, or actually a bit regretful because he could have done better. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the last one, because they are all so hard on themselves (which totally reminds me of aoquan), but he (they) still get over it and do better the next time.
It was relieving to see him smiling so brightly, doing so well on his platform dives and cheering so loudly for the other members after he ended his springboard event. :D

What was best out of the competition was that everyone did so well, even those who were afraid of water/heights initially. The last dive of Siyoon at 10m was simply a challenge against himself, with the happiness of victory shared by everyone. :) And their coach is so supportive and proud of them! She's so nice. Oh, and the rest of the competitors were happy for them and cheered for them when they did well. I guess that's the attraction of sports. It brings people together. :)
And it brought the members much closer together too!

New found admiration for Eunhyuk oppa and the rest of the Barefoot Friends members.
I guess the show is really about them overcoming challenges together, showing the bare side of themselves, and becoming better as a whole. Really looking forward to the upcoming episodes (and I read somewhere that the next challenge is composing their own songs, which Eunhyuk already had experience. :D )
Their spirit is what I should learn from. Because every individual can do so much more if they try. :)

Luping is a lost child that has been seeking for her career direction since the first time someone asked her "What would you like to be when you grow up?", when she was still too tiny to reach the basin in her house. Despite reading books like What Should I Do with My Life: The True Story of People Who Answered the Ultimate Question by Po Bronson, she had been searching like a headless housefly (literally translated from 无头苍蝇) past graduation when she actually probably needed to find a job. Eventually, she found a job and a... direction.

For those who know Luping personally, she loves plushies/soft toys and is prepared to go on war with anyone who gets their hands on her babies. Her babies are personified with voices of hers and her Mummy's, and both of them enjoy framing the babies for things they obviously cannot do. When her Mummy suggested that if one day, the babies actually speak up, “那应该会吓死” (it would probably frighten one to death), she responded that she will instead “开心死” (be happy till death) if xiaofenhong (our cute, hot pink, flat bunny) replies her. That is the extent of her loneliness love for her babies.

And for those who know Luping as Amethyst, she is a rather huge fangirl of the Korean boy band, Super Junior. So much that she learnt (and is still learning - 반가워요!) Korean in hope of understanding what they say without subtitles and avoiding the losses in translation. She has been a fanfic writer for two years and counting, which sparked off her interest in writing and thus, this blog to practise writing so that one day, she might have the courage to apply for a (content) writer position or send in a manuscript to a publisher.
